Ceramic Art in Thailand

About us

I recieved BA. and MA. from Silpakorn University, Bangkok. Presently,, I am a lecturer and also I am pursuing my Ph.D. (Historical Archaeology) at Silpakorn University .

I first became interested in ceramics when I started to work in the Osotspa Company Limited in 1986. I have opportunities to survey the ancient kiln sites in northern Thailand and the archaeological sites in Thailand.

A chance meeting with Mr. Suwat Osathanugraha’ s funerary book resulted in me being commissioned to write a book on the ceramics of South-East Asia, which, in 1988, became the first in depth study of the subject. In the same year the book, much enlarged as a result of the exciting Tak Hilltop burial finds, was reprinted by the Osotspa Company Limited.

The heart of my study are Chinese export ceramics, Thai ceramics that were made in Thailand some five to six hundred years ago, and ceramics from kilns in other neighbouring countries.
